Rome

Rome is a 3-year-old Gray and White Terrier mix. She came to Hilton Head Humane from our municipal partner, Beaufort County Animal Services, where she had been brought in as a stray. Rome is considered a large dog, weighing in at 60 lbs. Rome is a saucy, strong and smart dog. She likes to be the boss when playing with her dog friends in the play yard at the Okatie campus. Rome’s sense of smell is second to none. On walks around the pond, she likes to stop and sniff the air while her nose twitches. An example of Rome’s intelligence is the story of the goat. Rome was interested in the goat that was temporarily housed in a fenced area adjacent to the walking trail late last year. Even though that goat is no longer there, she will stop by the fence to sniff and look around for the goat. The ideal adoption scenario for Rome is as follows: a home with no cats or small animals (as she likes to chase them), no young children (due to Rome’s size) and someone who has good dog handling skills (she can be stubborn). We know the right person or family is out there for Rome. Look at the big smile on Rome’s face. She is waiting to meet you at the Okatie campus.
